Career and Skill Enhancement

Community Preservation and Development Corporation's (CPDC) Career and Skill Enhancement (CSE) programs provide residents with the opportunity to increase their employability as well as strengthen the necessary skills to gain, maintain, and advance in chosen career tracks.

CSE programs are focused around solid technical training that blends the best practices from education, psychology, social work, workforce development, career counseling, and technology training. Through our training classes, residents can achieve three goals:

  • Connect to vocational and educational opportunities
  • Improve their overall quality of life
  • Enter and sustain successful careers

How it works

CPDC incorporates four elements in its approach:

  • intensive academic instruction
  • IT skills development
  • supportive activities
  • and soft skill career development techniques designed to enhance each participants' likelihood of success.

Over the past four years, over 1,000 unemployed and underemployed out-of-school youth and adults have passed through CPDC's training courses. We promote the importance of life-long learning and professional development and help participants to enroll in degree and certificate-granting programs at area colleges and universities. In fact, students successfully completing training can earn college credit.

The CSE Program is comprised of the following components:
