Collaborating for Crime Prevention: A CPDC Safety Initiative

Collaborating for Crime Prevention is a two-year, city-wide safety initiative designed to engage youth and adult residents of CPDC communities, their neighbors, and law enforcement with the ultimate goal of improving safety in Washington D.C.’s Ward 8 community.

The first phase of the initiative features neighborhood street festivals focused on non-violence and community building in collaboration with the Metropolitan Police Department and a Public Safety Survey intended to take the pulse of D.C. residents on attitudes and perceptions on police relations and safety.  The second phase of the initiative will focus on actionable solutions to tackle challenges and barriers associated with crime prevention in our communities, informed by  survey findings.

With more than 4,600 residents and over 2,600 units throughout Washington D.C.–many in Ward 8–CPDC has a strong interest in implementing programs that positively impact quality of life for residents, properties, and surrounding communities.

Through this initiative and ongoing community transformation efforts, it is our hope that D.C. residents will join the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department, community leaders, and other key stakeholders, to continue building safer communities.
