CPDC Katrina Relief Fund

We are all still witnessing the devastating aftermath of Katrina on the Gulf Coast that left hundreds of thousands of people homeless. Many believe that it might well be 2010 before New Orleans and Mississippi are rebuilt and able to welcome home their residents. For some evacuees, this will mean making a new city home.

CPDC has offered homes to Katrina evacuees and will continue to do so. Not only are we able to provide quality housing for these individuals and families, but most of our communities also have resident services programs including workforce training and youth academic support. They will also have easy access to technological tools and resources through our computer learning centers as they seek to rebuild their lives here.

CPDC has also established the "CPDC Katrina Relief Fund" that will provide immediate financial support for the families who choose to reside at any of our sites. We have established a bank account and are now prepared to accept donations in the form of cash, check (made payable to CPDC Katrina Relief Fund), or stock transfers. CPDC will use monies from the Relief Fund to support those evacuees who choose a CPDC property as their new home.

CPDC is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization and your contribution is tax- deductible to the extent of applicable laws. As always, consult your tax advisor on specific donations.

Should you have any questions or would like to send contributions, please contact Pamela M. Lyons, Director of Administration, at 202.895.8900 or pylons@cpdc.org.

Updates will be provided on the success of our fund raising. We are investigating long-term recovery efforts in which CPDC might concentrate its relief efforts and invite your suggestions.
