US EV Rebate 2026 : Check Amount & Eligibility Criteria

The US EV Rebate 2026 has become a confusing update for many Americans who are planning to buy an electric vehicle. For years, the Clean Vehicle Credit helped buyers to save thousands when purchasing a new electric vehicle or fuel cell vehicle. But recent updates from the IRS states that New Clean Vehicle Credit is not available for vehicles acquired after 30th September 2025. This has led many people to ask whether this rebate still applies in 2026 and who can actually claim it. The truth is that the EV Rebate is not a new initiative in 2026. As per official updates, this tax credit can be claimed in 2026 for EV vehicles that were purchased before 30th September 2025.

US EV Rebate 2026

The US EV Rebate 2026 is the new Clean Vehicle Credit which is offered by the IRS. This credit applies to new plug-in electric vehicles and fuel cell vehicles that meet federal requirements. A new update clearly states that vehicles must be acquired on or before 30th September 2025 to qualify for this rebate benefit. If a vehicle is placed in service after this date then the buyer must prove that they have entered into a binding written contract and made a payment on or prior to 30th September 2025. This clean vehicle credit is non refundable unless transferred to the dealer at the time of sale. This means people can’t get more money back than the amount of the tax they owe. Unused credit amounts cannot be carried forward to future years.
