Director, Marketing and Communications
Luann Tia Blount is responsible for the strategic planning and implementation of CPDC’s internal and external communications activities.
Ms. Blount has more than 13 years of experience in marketing and communications with expertise in public and media relations; risk management and crisis communications; research literacy for low-literacy populations; external relations training and development; writing and editing; and supporting organizations with the use of social media.
Prior to joining CPDC in September 2012, Ms. Blount was Senior Clinical Communications Specialist for the International Partnership for Microbicides (IPM), a non-profit product development partnership working to advance the development and delivery of life-saving microbicides for HIV prevention. Ms. Blount built IPM’s clinical communications program and was responsible for leading communications efforts for research centers across the US, Europe, and Africa. Before joining IPM, Ms. Blount worked as a Communications Officer with the PATH Malaria Vaccine Initiative (MVI) where she helped raise the profile of malaria vaccines and built communications capacity across MVI’s global network of research centers.
Ms. Blount holds a Master of Arts in Public Communication from American University and a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations from Florida A&M University.
