During the past two years, CPDC has acquired five apartment properties for a total of 657 units under the Low-Income Housing Preservation and Resident Homeownership Act of 1990 (LIHPRHA).

LIHPRHA was enacted to preserve affordable housing built 20 or more years ago under several Federal Housing Administration programs. As a Priority Purchaser, CPDC has been able to invest in apartment communities that were vulnerable to conversion to market-rate rental and condominium housing. CPDC's purchases under LIHPRHA were made possible with funding assistance from HUD and represent a broad range of housing types and geographic locations. CPDC will preserve the properties as low-income housing for the remainder of their useful lives and will develop an array of community service programs with the assistance of residents and community-based partners.
