Support CPDC’s Great Grocery Give!
What if everyone came together in one 24-hour period to share their community spirit by giving to their favorite local charities? What a difference a day could make. That’s the thought behind the Great Give campaign, Anne Arundel County’s inaugural 24-hour online fundraising event created to rally the community in support of local charitable causes.
CPDC has partnered with the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County for this year’s Great Give. CPDC’s “Great Grocery Give” is an effort to raise $5,000 to provide much-needed fresh produce for seniors at the Wiley H. Bates Residences.
The Bates Produce Program is an ongoing initiative aligned with the Health and Wellness impact area of CPDC’s community building model. Through this program, CPDC currently provides an average of 35 Bates residents with free produce each week through partnership with a local food bank. To date, produce has only been made available from April through November of each year. During the winter months (December through March), residents have difficulty accessing healthy foods due to several barriers (e.g., lack of transportation and public transportation routes, limited physical abilities, limited income to pay for costly taxi service, etc.). In addition, grocery stores are more than a mile from the Wiley H. Bates Residences.
The Great Grocery Give would fund CPDC’s efforts to partner with a new local food bank to continue service to seniors during the critical winter months.
