Shelley Rubin
Shelley Rubin has been a psychotherapist in Washington DC since 1987. She did her graduate work at NYU and worked at Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital and New York University medical center, doing community outreach to help facilitate the adjustment of psychiatric patients returning to the community. She also spent a year in Quito, Ecuador teaching children with learning and behavior problems. She is fluent in Spanish.
She started her career in DC at The Center for Mental Health in SE Washington. As well as doing individual and family therapy, she was the Director of Supervision for the clinic.
She started a private practice in 1990 and continues to work primarily with children and adolescents.
In 2008 she was awarded an Avon Grant to work with Justice For Children (JFC) in their DC office. JFC is an organization based in Houston which helps neglected and abused children. As well as her counseling and advocacy roles, she has helped them with fundraising and educating parents in ways to protect their children.
