Velle Perkins, a native Washingtonian, joined CPDC’s Board of Directors in 2016 as the first-ever resident representative. The appointment of a CPDC resident to the Board of Directors was a directive of the organization’s 2014-2018 Strategic Plan. A 13-year resident of the Northwest Washington, D.C. Wardman Court community and mother of four sons, Perkins fills a unique role for CPDC in offering a resident voice and perspective to the organization’s high-level planning.
When she is not assisting in her community, Perkins works on the operations team at The Catholic University of America, a position she has held for more than 11 years. To the CPDC Board of Directors, Perkins brings a long history of volunteering and a commitment to community service. The feature she has most enjoyed as a resident is the diversity of her community and rapport among neighbors. She looks forward to this new governance opportunity to build upon her long history with CPDC.
