Team CPDC Revamps the ReStore for AHAW
Last week, CPDC joined businesses and non-profits in the Richmond region as a sponsor for Affordable Housing Awareness Week, an annual volunteer-driven effort to bring attention to and help develop Richmond’s affordable housing.
To do our part, we teamed up with the Partnership for Housing Affordability and traveled to Richmond to volunteer at a local Habitat for Humanity ReStore, a non-profit home improvement and donation center offering new and gently used furniture, home accessories, building materials, and appliances to the public at a fraction of retail price.
Due to frequent deliveries and volume of donations, our team learned that a major challenge for the Richmond ReStore is simply making space for inventory and staying organized. So that’s exactly how the CPDC team spent their day: moving out the old to make room for the new, unloading, tagging and organizing!
In addition to being a great team-building opportunity for staff and contribution to Affordable Housing Awareness Week, our work at the ReStore was a chance to show our commitment to making an impact in Richmond—a city where CPDC will soon begin development of 77 new affordable senior apartments.
