Green Apartment Building Springs to Life, Eradicating Crime Hot Spot in Washington, D.C
In 2007, CPDC worked with the residents to purchase Wheeler Terrace – a 113-unit affordable housing complex in Washington, DC. The apartments undergo a “green” renovation by exceeding Washington, DC’s standards for sustainable design and applying for a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Certification. The project will install energy efficient components, including a Geothermal Ground Source Heat Pump system. The projected renovation will cost $32 million once completed.
