As we celebrate our 25th anniversary, we will be focusing our blog and social media posts on a different area of our services to the community. Each month, we will highlight a part of CPDC’s mission and what steps we are taking every day to help communities grow and thrive. This month, our focus features will center around our Resident Services partners and staff, volunteers, and program participants.
CPDC believes in the power of strong financial planning and its ability to create successful, stable home environments for residents in our communities. That belief led us to a partnership with Hilltop Microfinance Initiative (HMFI) at our Stony Brook community. This Washington, D.C. area nonprofit aims to empower individual residents by promoting financial independence.
HMFI’s programs have enabled our residents to gain a strong footing by providing continued credit counseling services. These programs are making a huge difference in the more than 50 residents who are participating.
“Together with HMFI, we are assisting residents in challenging collection accounts on their reports,” said Ryan Barton, CPDC Resident Services Manager at Stony Brook. “To date, we have helped remove approximately $60,000 in collections from resident’s credit reports.”
