CPDC Salutes Volunteers this April
This month, the country celebrates National Volunteer Week on April 12-18, 2015. This gives CPDC the perfect opportunity to publicly thank the hundreds of individual, skill-based (pro-bono), and corporate volunteers who give freely of their time and talents and go above and beyond for CPDC and our residents.
We completely agree with President Barack Obama’s statement in his 2014 Presidential Proclamation for Volunteer Awareness “By performing acts of service, we can shape a Nation big enough and bold enough to accommodate the hopes of all our people. Across our country, volunteers open doors of opportunity, pave avenues of success, fortify their communities, and lay the foundation for tomorrow’s growth and prosperity.”
Therefore, instead of celebrating for just one week, we are using this whole month to salute the volunteers who make our communities grow and thrive.
A MONTH-LONG SALUTE
Everyday this month on our Twitter and Facebook feeds, we will post a daily inspirational quote to keep us all motivated for volunteerism. Likewise, our social media feeds and our blog will highlight the past year’s volunteers and partners from across our communities in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.
CPDC STAFF VOLUNTEER AT AHAW
For National Volunteer Week, our organization will celebrate volunteerism through our direct sponsorship of and volunteer efforts towards Affordable Housing Awareness Week in Richmond, VA.
Our staff will pitch-in to assist community organizers in a Habitat for Humanity project. And our leadership will assist in outreach efforts with the media to educate them about the importance of affordable housing across the region.
