CPDC Believes #PlayMatters to Our Communities
On Friday April 4, CPDC will team up with KaBOOM!, the Redskins Charitable Foundation, and Clark Construction to build a playground at our Cedar Heights community in one of D.C.’s Ward 8 neighborhoods.
Why is a playground important to CPDC’s mission? KaBOOM!’s social media hashtag sums it up perfectly: #playmatters.
Research collected by KaBOOM! proves play creates stronger children and communities. In one report, 80% of principals surveyed agreed that recess has a positive impact on academic achievement. Likewise, children who live within a half mile of a park or playground are nearly five times more likely to be of healthy weight. Finally, children deprived of play can show increased problems with social integration, including greater likelihood of felony arrests by young adulthood.
Play makes safer neighborhoods, encourages healthy habits in children, and inspires academic growth.
At CPDC, our mission does not stop at building housing units. We are committed to investing in t he future of communities to help them grow and thrive. That includes building future leaders by providing them the tools for a healthy, productive lifestyle from a young age.
Help us restore play to the children of Ward 8 by building a playground at our Cedar Heights community.
