For the past 24 years, CPDC has developed high-quality affordable housing working closely with residents to build communities that grow and thrive. One special area of CPDC expertise is “adaptive reuse” of abandoned historic structures, such as the Wiley H. Bates Senior High School—the only high school in Anne Arundel County that served African Americans prior to the integration of its schools. This remarkable story of the revitalization and adaptive reuse of the Bates school is an example of how CPDC partners with residents, communities, and local governments.
